Discuss Ruben’s intersectionality and how people and systems response to his identities.
Compare the movie’s portrayal of the Deaf identify / Deaf World to other past / current media portrayals.
Relate the influences of pop culture’s portrayal of Deaf people to the dynamics and systems of oppression and privilege.
Examine individual filters and the influence of those filters on interpreters as service providers to the Deaf Community.

Amy Kroll is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities. This Power, Privilege & Oppression Professional Studies (PPO PS) program is offered for 0.4 CEUs at the Some Content Knowledge Level.
You should plan on two (2) hours of viewing and reflection in preparation of the discussion and three (3) hours of group interactions on the day of the discussion.
Dates & Location
This movie discussion is ten (10) days in length. The group discussion will be held through Zoom on March 7, 2021 from 3:00-6:00 pm Mountain. The movie will be independently view between February 26 and March 6, 2021. The movie is two (2) hours in length and is R rated.
Sound of Metal is an Amazon Original movie. Please ensure you have access to the movie prior to registering.

A $20 refund will be offered through original payment source for cancellations made at least 24 hours prior to the first day of the movie discussion (February 26, 2021). No refunds are offered after this 24 hour cut off.
