PINRA

In.terp.novation will no longer process PINRAs after March 31, 2025.

PINRA stands for Participant Initiated Non-RID Activity.

An individual RID member can initiate a PINRA to earn CEUs from structured learning events hosted by professional organizations outside of the interpreting field and who are unlikely to work with an RID Sponsor to set up CEUs for attendees who are interpreters.

Per RID's 2025 Standards and Criteria for Approved Sponsors, a PINRA can only be initiated for learning events approved for continuing educational credits by a professional, non-interpreting organization (e.g., American Medical Association, American Teachers' Association, etc.).

If the learning event is not approved for continuing education credit, it cannot be processed as a PINRA. However, it may earn RID CEUs through an Independent Study - Prefabricated Plan.

A PINRA must be submitted and approved for CEUs before the start of the learning event.
